1. Who we are

People of Light (“we”, “us”) is a global art project based in Odesa, Ukraine. Contact: privacy@peopleoflight.org

2. What data we collect

  • Photo you upload (stored in Cloudflare R2)
  • City and country (public)
  • Date (public)
  • Text/description (public)
  • Display name (public, optional)
  • Email address (encrypted, never public, for deletion requests only)
  • Approximate public location (city-level, derived from GPS, stored as PostGIS point)

3. How we use your data

Your data is used solely to publish your Personal LIGHT on the People of Light platform. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing.

4. Email encryption

If you provide an email address, it is encrypted using AES-256-GCM before storage. We cannot read it without the encryption key.

5. Location data

If you share GPS coordinates, we store only a city-level approximate location for the public map. Your exact coordinates are not stored permanently.

6. Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to: access, correct, delete, restrict processing, and portability of your data. To request deletion, use the form below or email privacy@peopleoflight.org.

7. Data retention

Your LIGHT data is kept until you request deletion. Abandoned draft activations are automatically cleared after 24 hours.

REQUEST DATA DELETION

To request deletion of your Personal LIGHT, provide your LIGHT ID or email address. We will process your request within 30 days.
